. Municipals Hockey Club established in 1925, at the same time that the Durban and Districts Hockey Association was formed. The first league game was played on Sunday 5th July 1925 at Lords ground in Old Fort Road where Munies was beaten by Nomads 9-1. Munies Hockey Club is probably one of the oldest, if not the oldest hockey club in South Africa and will be 90 years old on the 05th July 2015; as well as its 65th Anniversary of playing out of the same home ground; with a much improved club-house; just below the Botanic gardens. There are currently 3 Ladies and 3 Mens Teams that play in the KZN Hockey League; in the different divisions. Members of Munies range from school going children to veterans and has produced a number of Natal players at various levels.
