In 1986, there was a dire need for an affordable newspaper within the Indian community. This prompted Vijay Maharaj, CEO of The Rising Sun Newspapers to launch a free newspaper to document, profile and broadcast the latest news and advertising specials. Presently, our free community papers are delivered to every door weekly. In Gauteng, we reach out to the communities of Lenasia, Lenasia South, Zakariyya Park, Azadville, Roshnee, Dadaville, De Deur, Migson Manor, Bushkoppies, Nancefield and parts of Ennerdale. The Rising Sun Fordsburg also distributes to Fordsburg and Mayfair. In KwaZulu-Natal, we serve the communities of Chatsworth, Phoenix, Verulam and Tongaat, Merebank, Overport and Mid-South Coast.
