The name 'Astor House' is derived from William Waldorf Astor who in 1890 left America to settle in England with his large fortune. In 1903, he bought Hever Castle, once the home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII. Being small, he decided to create a Tudor Village adjacent to the original castle. During their travels in England, they visited Hever Castle in Kent and henceforth, after months of renovations, builders' rubble and alterations, their once forlorn and neglected "Cinderella" has blossomed into Astor House, a little bit of Kent in Durban North.
