Die Mas Boerdery and Resort started of as a single plot of land bought by Vlok and Welna Hanekom in 1970, both school teachers at the time. âDie Masâ litterally means âthe mast of a shipâ The farm on the banks of the Orange river had a slow start with only 1 hectare of vineyards, few hectares used for cotton, lentils and maize production, two donkeys and a wooden wagon.
