Bucan was founded in Polokwane in December 1975, where it traded from a small premises situated at 42 Schoeman Street. The business traded here from 1975 to 1980 as an agent of Olivetti and S.P.A, a distributor of: manual and electronic typewriters; adding machines; electronic calculators and plain paper copiers. During this period Bucan employed 5 people: 3 salesmen, 1 secretary and 1 storeman.
