Training authorities

Training authorities are people or organizations that have the knowledge and power to help a person acquire a required level of knowledge or skill. They contribute to sustainable development of skills, growth and equity of skills development institutions by aligning their work and resources to the skills needs for effective delivery and implementation.

Training authorities create and manage leanerships, internships (unit based skills programmes) and apprentices. Training authorities were established to ensure that every industry and occupation in South Africa is covered. Training companies offer a unique range of training programmes focused on the development of personal or work related skills. Courses provided have a strong focus on skills transfer to ensure that students get the most out of the training provided. Courses may be done in class full time or through e-learning (Internet learning) which is suitable for those who work and wish to study at the same time. Computer schools offer theory and practical training for practical benefits. Apart from degree programs they also offer basic training for computers. Basic computer training courses and programs are available on line. Training authorities ensure that skills are built through a series of exercises designed to give participants a taste of effective mentoring in both the roles of mentor and mentee. Coaching and mentoring is done so as to maximize knowledge transfer and further develop skill levels.

First aid is a vital skill that one should possess. Its training is available in vocational centres and universities. To find more about training authorities, browse our Yellow Pages listings
