SPORTS CONTROL BODIES

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) is the controlling body for all high performance sports  which works with representation from all the macro sporting bodies in South Africa. Sports control bodies represent man and woman in various sporting activities such as soccer, rugby, tennis, hockey, cricket, golf, swimming, boxing, athletics, motor racing, martial arts and other significant sports.

SASCOC is a national coordinating macro body which promotes and develops high sport performance in the country. It also promotes sports marketing activities and actively organise national events as well as provide other services for the participants. It must consult with relevant sports control bodies in regards to national team presentation in any multi coded sport discipline which may be participating in international games, such as the Olympic, Paralympics, Commonwealth and All Africa games.

Sports control bodies are committed towards an improved system which is based upon the principles of equal opportunities, non racialism and non sexism for all persons participating in sporting events. They are dedicated in pooling of activities, resources, experience and expertise, as well as coordinating the preparation, presentation and ensuring equitable development at national and representative level.

All sport participants who need assistance can consult with relevant sport control bodies. They are available to discuss and share their accumulated experience with concerned individuals who experience problems in sports. They may also advise on relevant sport clubs to join as well as sport development careers that may suite individual participants.
