Springs and shock absorbers

There is nothing more uncomfortable than driving in a vehicle that has poor shocks and a faulty suspension. For the passengers in the back seats, the journey is very uncomfortable especially if the road is bumpy. Springs and shock absorbers should be replaced when they wear out. This is because they affect the wheel alignment of the vehicle. Once the wheel alignment is affected, the car has to be taken in for service as it is now accident prone.

Springs and shock absorbers that are faulty also affect the tyres. The tyres wear out faster as they have to try and grip the surface more. In the end the exhausts may also become damaged. When the vehicle is carrying a heavy load, the exhaust may end up being so low that it breaks off due to the friction with the road. This is dangerous and can cause the vehicle to catch on fire. A faulty exhaust can also cause the fumes that should be emitted to linger I the car. This may have fatal effects as those gases can lead to death.

During car servicing, the springs and shock absorbers can be replaced. Sometimes the whole suspension has to be replaced. This is a huge expense that luckily does not have to be incurred very often. It is best to use tested shocks and new ones than a second hand pair. Find suppliers of springs and shock absorbers on the Yellowpages website.
