Ribbons

A ribbon is a long thin band of material, cloth or plastic used for tying and or decorative purposes. Ribbons are used in the textile industry, in the making of garments. They are often used for decorating lingerie, embroidering of clothes and other textile fabrics. In some cultures it is used in their attire to tie the waist and plays an important role traditionally.

Ribbons come in different colours and sizes (width and length) they are used for decoration at events such as birthday and graduation parties for tying of the balloons. In weddings, ribbons are used in the entire decor to soften the look and bakers also decorate cakes with edible ribbons. Some people use ribbons to decorate gift cards and wrap presents to give it a good look. At homes one may use ribbons to decorate windows by using them to tie curtains.

Youngsters use ribbons to enhance their looks by making a bow to tie their hair. They also use them for wristbands and necklaces. In beauty pageants a thick ribbon is used as a sash for crowning or to show a country or region of the contestant. This is normally a long ribbon that goes over the shoulder all the way to the hip and clipped. To find out more about ribbons, browse our Yellow Pages listings.
