Political Parties & Constituency Offices

The Republic of South Africa has a vibrant political system.  While most countries have about one or two parties, we have up to 13 parties embodied in the National Assembly of Parliament. These are namely – the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), African Independent Congress (AIC),  African National Congress (ANC), African Peoples' Convention, Agang South Africa (Agang), Congress of the People (COPE), Democratic Alliance (DA), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Freedom Front Plus (FF+), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), National Freedom Party (NFP), Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) and the United Democratic Movement (UDM).

We have a grand total of up to 350 constituency offices that are spread across the country. Approaching any of the offices should be simple as they are there to serve the public in their appointed area. The purpose and importance of these offices is so that members of the public may be given a voice.  They are tasked with the responsibility of problem-solving assistance, being available and visible when needed by their constituency and most importantly they should be competent and able to give accountable reporting back to the public on whatever is happening in Parliament.

The public in that area are able to approach any of these elected representatives to ask for help. This is a powerful tool that tries to ensure that the public feel that the government is indeed hearing their opinions and offering assistance that will build the nation.
