Physiotherapists

A physiotherapist is a healthcare professional who primarily specialises in quality of life and movement potential, exhaust the possibilities of function for human movement and help and treat people with physical problems caused by illness, accident or ageing, through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention.

A physiotherapist's core skills consist of manual therapy, the application of electro-physical modalities and therapeutic exercise; they undertake and make an intensive assessment of your problem. Treatment and rehabilitation options will depend on the problem which may include exercises to improve balance, change the way you move, stretch tight structures, strengthen weak ones, or hands on mobilization to maximise the move joints; or electrotherapy which is the use of machines such as ultrasound or tension requirement.

Physiotherapists help and provide services for clients concerning body pain, backache, headache, spinal cord problem, also include stress removal treatment and several other treatments that for this it is essential to have the experts. Physiotherapists provide services and work in a wide variety of locations such as as hospital; private clinics; hospices; nursing homes; a patient’s own home; the workplace; sports clubs and gyms. Physiotherapists are the equivalent of a Physical Therapist.

Another group of Physiotherapists is the Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy Group [OMPTG] -South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP) which was established in 1974.
