Needlework

Needlework is a broad term for all handcrafts that use a needle. Needles are used together with threads of various colours to do decorative sewing and textile arts. A variety of pattern templates are traced onto materials to help create beautiful crafts. Needlework consists of  projects that cater for beginners and long-time needle workers. It can be done as a hobby or profession.

Sewing is the craft of fastening or attaching objects using stitches made with a needle and threat. Sewing is one of the oldest textile arts. It was traditionally done by hand, but with the introduction of technology and its improvement various sewing machines were invented.

Embroidery is a form of needlework. It is the handicraft of decorating fabric or other materials using a needle and thread. Other materials such as metal strips, pearls and beads are also incorporated. Fabrics used in needlework vary considerably. Cotton, wool, linen and silk are some of the fabrics largely used. Using needlework, beautiful trendy clothing and furnishing products are created in textile industries. Historical textiles are also brought back to life by conserving and restoring them. Needlework allows you to care for your own fragile and treasured textiles to prevent further damage or wear. Holes and weak areas may be stabilized, by stitching onto them appropriate support fabric.
