Mosaics

Mosaics have been created by a number of different artists throughout the ages. Many materials can be used to create mosaics with the most commonly used being glass and stone. Such artwork is delicate and takes a great deal of time and patience to create. The individual pieces are put together one by one to create a picture and this is done by hand. Mosaic tiling is made out of ceramics. The tiny pieces are put together to create a pattern or picture on both walls and floors.

The length of time spent on this art project is dependent upon the number of people working on it and the size of the project. Mosaic tiling usually appears to be very unique. People normally use the tiling to tile places like fountains, bathrooms and kitchens. Mosaics can easily be designed to be different, some people may even choose to have the likeness of a loved one made into a piece of mosaic artwork.

Mosaic tiles can be purchased by the boxfull  from any tile centre. Most tile manufacturers and suppliers manufacture a wide range of mosaic tiling in a variety of colours. Mosaic tiling may also be used in flooring whereby the walls and floors are designed into a pattern using the tiles for instance a company's logo in the entrance of a building.
