Laundries and laundrettes

Laundries and laundrettes are places where people without their own washing equipment take their clothes to. These are available in different set ups and charging varying rates. Laundries and laundrettes offer a fast and reliable service allowing people to redirect their time and energy to more pressing issues.

With the wide range of services offered by laundries people have the freedom of choice. One may choose the wash, stain treatment, dry, folding, or dry cleaning service. Dry cleaning is a process of cleaning clothes using specialised machines without the use of a single drop of water, a cleaning fluid is used instead. Clothes are immersed and cleaned in the cleaning liquid. Dry cleaners do all the work in accordance with the care instructions indicated by the textile manufacturers on the garments. They do this such that they do not distort the colour and quality of the fabrics but rather extend their life.

Whilst some laundries have attendants some do not. In unattended laundries the machines are coin or card operated. To wash a certain kg of clothes there is a certain amount one needs to feed into the machine or load into the card and swipe to begin the washing process.

One may seek the services of laundries when they have a lot of laundry which might take forever to do especially with hand washers or when they simply dislike doing laundry. To find out more about laundries and laundrettes, browse our Yellow Pages listings.
