JOINERY MFRS

Joinery mfrs (manufacturers) are specialists in woodwork. Joinery can be described as joining two or more pieces of wood together. This sounds like the work of a carpenter right? These are two very similar professions because they both earn their living using wood, but there are a few subtle differences.

A joinery’s main function is to join pieces of wood together to form a strong and secure bond. This can be done by either gluing, nailing or screwing the pieces the pieces of wood together. That is the simple more straight forward way of doing it but it gets a lot more technical and complicated. There many different kinds of joints that a joinery uses, each to form a certain design, shape or bond.

A joinery manufactures wooden structures such as doors, window frames, stairs and trusses for a construction site. In addition to the structures mentioned, joiners are also into more delicate and detailed jobs. Joiners also manufacture furniture such as dressers, chest of drawers, wardrobes and cabinets. A carpenter mainly works on the construction site and deals with roofing, shuttering and skirting. Carpenters can specialise in building different things from wood, for an example a ship carpenter is responsible for the building and maintenance of a vessel. Some would say that the main difference between a joinery and a carpenter is that a joinery makes things from wood and a carpenter fixes them. Both require a skilled and qualified people for the best results.
