When you are working with heavy loads or heavy equipment and you need to lift them then a hoist is one of the pieces of equipment you can use to get the job done.
Hoists are normally made of 3 parts - the hook, which is the part you will use to hook the load you wish to lift, the rope or the chain that is attached to the lifting mechanism which will pull the rope or the chain up, then lastly you have the lifting mechanism which comes in 2 different forms - either manual or powered.
Hoists are used in different industries such as mines, manufacturing and industrial companies and basically everywhere where there are heavy loads to lift. There are different types of hoists for every job. For the less heavy loads then a manually operated hoist is more suitable for the job, as they are mobile and easy to maintain and are more affordable. Manual hoists uses hydraulics to lift the load and they are hand or foot operated.
Powered hoists use electric motors, petrol and diesel engines to lift heavy loads. These are more suitable for heavier loads and they are more expensive than manually operated hoists. Also, they are a bit more costly to maintain depending on the size of the hoists. Sizes of hoists can be as small as the size of a chair to a size of building. The large hoists are used mainly in building construction sites.
There are different hoists for every job, it is important that you find the one that is suitable for your needs in order to be economic and efficient in your line of work.
