Herbal Preparations

Herbal remedies are an established industry that has seen many people opting for what they view as a healthier choice in medicine. Homogeneous processes have been used worldwide to prepare herbal medicines. This means that there are uniform preparation methods that have been widely accepted as the most appropriate therefore are also followed by the people who undertake the process of herbal preparation. Some of these pre-ordained methods include; cold soaking which is popularly known as macerations, boiled teas known as decoctions, hot teas which are normally referred to as infusions and finally water with alcohol extracts which are known in medical terms as tinctures.  A lot of these remedies can be found in pharmacies across the nation and can be prescribed by some doctors.

There are more preparation methods used by traditional healers or herbalists. One example is hot baths, which involves concocting plants in a hot bath and then allowing the patient to go in and soak with this medicine. Another example is the preparation of snuff. Snuff is actually a powdered plant that is inhaled by patients to release its healing properties.

Various steam breathing methods are also used including aromatherapy and the natural inhalation of pre-steamed plants. There are many herbalists and healers who make use of these techniques and the most reliable are those who use tried and tested methods which allow consistency, safety and the good health of their patients.
