Heat treatment services

Heat treatment services are largely used to complete thermal treatments to modify the properties or metals, and metal alloys among other types of materials. Heat treatment is mostly linked to increasing the strength of material but can also be used to alter certain manufacturability objectives such as improve machining and improve formability. During heat treatment services, there has to be  correct control over temperature, time and cooling rate of the material. 

The service is largely used to also change the material’s hardness, consistency and strength among other properties.  It is important for a client to always consider the type of heating techniques and equipment capabilities when choosing the right heat treatment service.  The most common type of heat treating includes annealing, carburizing and case hardening just to mention a few. Annealing is when a large range or processes designed to produce a refined microstructure within a material through heating and cooling at a controlled rate.  

Carburizing on the other hand includes a case hardening processing where the cases are formed by adding carbon through a diffusion process.  The cases that will be hardened result in a layer within a material to form and harden. Case hardening includes the formation and hardening of a compositionally modified surface layer within a material. The cases are normally formed by adding carbon, nitrogen, chrome, boron or other elements to the steel or metal surface.
