Filtration Plant – Industrial

Simply put, a filtration plant is mainly responsible for the treatment of water to make it safe and reliable for domestic use. At an industrial level, these plants are facilities that normally work under the public works department. The primary objective is to purify water by removing chemicals, hazardous materials and toxic matters from a water source. Most plants of this nature filter water suitable for human consumption.

Different types of water is filtered inside of a water filtration plant, different methods of purification apply for different types of water. Starting with pre-treatment which involves pumping, screening and conditioning the raw water. The next step after pre-treatment, the water goes through a Ph adjustment period, then it’s passed through a flocculation process which involves the addition of aluminum hydroxide, iron and polymer. The water then goes through sedimentation. Once the sediments have settled, the clear water is then collected. Lastly the water is then filtered in order to remove any remaining sediment. These are basically the processes that happen inside of a filtration plant on a continuous basis.

Water that is used in laboratories and water that is sold in supermarkets can be subjected to further filtration. As for water for recreational activities like swimming pools, it’s also continuously filtered using a sand filter to remove algae and other microns. See the Yellow pages for everything to do with filtration plants, pool filters, filtration chemicals and spares for the maintenance of filtration machinery.
