Dredging

Dredging is a process of removing mud or sand from a river, wells or dams to clear the ground so that more water can easily fill up the place. This process can either be done manually when it comes to smaller wells and dams or might require big machines to scoop away mud and sand in big flowing rivers and dams. Dredging is also done by people to reduce mud in the water that traps animals that drink in the harbour.

Dredging process allows dams and rivers to have a deeper depth so that more water can fill so that it does not dry early after the rain season. In other countries dredging is done in oceans where vessels float when transporting goods from one area to the other. Dredging done in oceans is continually done because mud and sand cannot be completely removed from an ocean no matter how hard people may try. In wells or shafts, people remove mud and soil that may be contaminated with bacteria and many other types of water pollutants.

Dredging done in wells and smaller shafts is very easy because people can remove all the water inside the shaft and easily take away mud from the ground. In flowing rivers the process of dredging is very challenging and can only be done through the use of machines. The process of dredging is very useful and allows people to have safe water free from bacteria.
