Docters

Holders of a doctorate are known as doctors. Many titles like physicians, medical practitioners and medical doctors are used when referring to a doctor. Doctors are professionals who practise medicine which concerns restoring human health through the treating of diseases and injuries or any other mental abnormalities. Pharmacists, physiotherapists and dentists are also known as doctors as they practise medicine.

Doctors are found in private and public hospitals. Those who practise their profession from private hospitals operate on their own and they are not paid by the government for their services as compared to doctors practising from public hospitals. Services offered from private and public hospitals are basically the same, as very few things may differ depending on the type of service required. Nurses are doctors assistants who are normally the ones consulting before doctors, although in most cases they work hand-in-hand with the doctors. There are different doctors for different types of sicknesses. Some doctors may be trained to specialise in more than one profession within the medicine field. Some sicknesses like flu, cold and headaches don’t really need a doctor or a hospital, clinics and pharmacies do have medicine for such sicknesses, although at a pharmacy one will have to buy compared to a government clinic where medication is usually free.

Obstetrics (midwives/gynaecologists) are also doctors helping with the delivery of new-born babies and making sure that babies are born healthy by frequently having to perform check-ups during pregnancy. To find more about doctors, browse our Yellow Pages listings.
