Dietitians

Are you longing to be healthy, lose weight and feel full of energy again, but cannot handle the thought of another cheap and restrictive diet. Then setting up and appointment with a qualified dietitian might just be the answer to your problem.

A dietitian, also known as a nutritionist, is a professional with all the qualifications and skills to provide expert nutrition and dietary advice.  They can also provide food and nutrition information and support people who are trying their best to improve their health. They can provide advice on nutrition related matters and can also modify diets to help manage conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer as well as food allergies and intolerances. Dietitians will translate the latest scientific information into practical advice about what they eat.

Qualified dietitians may work in many different fields, including patient care, private practice, food industry, sport nutrition and public health to name a few. Consultations with dietitians who work in the public sectors are generally free of charge. Seeing privately practicing dietitians will cost you a fee. Follow-up appointments are shorter and less expensive. These follow-up appointments allow dietitians to keep track of your progress, support you and help you with your eating plan.

In South Africa, dietitians must be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. The council regulates all dieticians. The requirements needed for registration include a Bachelors degree in dietetics from an accredited educational institution.

You can trust a Dietitian to know all about nutrition.
