Customising

To customise is to change something to fit an individual’s interests or a specific task. The process of customisation is usually done by manufacturers while producing goods for consumers. Clothe and gadgets are the most customised items in the world. Hence, the word customise has been used interchangeably with personalise, meaning to design something according to one’s personality.

For example, people have been personalising their car’s registrations according to their identities to gain a sense of belonging. Besides the manufacturers, the panel beaters and spray painters also have been using a customisation method known as an auto customisation. When doing auto customisation, the panel beater does engine swaps whereas the spray painter paints the car in a different way from those in store. Furthermore, some retail stores also offer the customisation of packaging containers like cups and bottles whereby the packaging containers can differ according to their flavours or types of sports if the targeted audience is sporty people.

It has been said that customised items are the best selling products in shops as compared to plain ones. This is because the customised items cater to different needs of the consumers and consider their diversified lifestyles. Conversely, the customisation process is time-consuming and it gives the manufacturers more duties than before. Hence more customised products are sold on promotion in order to attract customers and so that they can understand that the stock is limited.
