Corrosion Control

So you have noticed that piece of metal that is starting to rust. Well you think its rust, but it is in fact not rust, its corrosion, and luckily you can control corrosion to a degree, as the many listings on the Yellow Pages will account for.

There are many different methods to achieve corrosion control, but lets first get the rust out of the way. Corrosion refers to metal wearing away through a chemical reaction within the metal, The difference between this and rust is that corrosion exists in any metal, not just metal with iron in. So as we can see this is very much like rust.

There are a number of different ways to control corrosion - any of these options would naturally depend on certain standards, the economy and the environment. As mentioned corrosion affects any kind of steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper and even titanium.

To prevent this seemingly unstoppable natural metal destroying force that we know as corrosion, we get to use some measures. Depending on the steel type you could use protective coatings or corrosion inhibitors. Once you have these coatings on you would see the difference in the life span on any kind of steel. For instance if you were to galvanize one piece of steel and leave one untreated and then place them outside, you would see a very quick change in the corrosion of the untreated steel as compared to the corrosion controlled steel.
