Chemical agents are solids, liquids or substances that are used to kill, incapacitated or hurt people. This usually occurs because of the toxic component that is found in them. Chemical agents are meant to be used mainly in military operations. This factor has contributed to the rise of chemical agents to also be referred to as chemical weapon agents, CWA. Due to the fact that there are many ways that chemical agents can penetrate the body, they are usually divided into different categories.
These categories include blister agents, blood agents, nerve agents, riot agents and mustard agents just to mention a few. There are almost 70 chemical agents that have been used over the years. They are all in liquid, gas or solid form. Riot agents are the ones that are usually used because they hardly cause any injuries or death to a human being. They are mostly used by the police officers against criminals or demonstrators and even in the military during training.
Riot agents are also known as harassing agents, they are generally sensory irritants and give a fleeting concentration. This concentration depends on the effects that resolve minutes after it has been removed. Other agents that are used a lot and do not cause death and serious injuries are vomiting agents. Vomiting agents cause irritation to the mucous membranes thereby producing congestion, coughing, sneezing and nausea. To find out more about chemicals agents, browse our Yellow Pages listings
