Bottlers

A bottler works in food, drink and bottling companies. Their job is to fill, pack and operate all bottling machinery. They also have to make sure that the production lines are loaded and running smoothly. As a bottler your duties would include setting up machines to start the bottling process, sort out any problems with the production line, report any serious machinery problems to your manager as well as keeping all machinery clean and sterile to meet high standards of food safety. You may also have quality control duties including making sure that bottles and jars are correctly filled and labeled.

Bottlers work in a factory environment, which could be quite noisy. These factories will bottle alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, sauces, medicines, baby foods as well as cosmetics. With experience bottlers can move up the ladder and become a team supervisor or even a manager.

Bottlers may also refer to bottling companies that place beverages into bottles and then distribute them in certain areas. Some bottling companies create, mix, bottle, pack and distribute their own beverages. They may distribute their products worldwide. Other bottling companies will have a franchise contract with one or more manufacturers to bottle and distribute their products within a defined area.

Larger soft drink manufacturers make their beverages at one factory and then ship them to another location to be bottled. Making use of bottling companies allows the manufacturer to have better quality control and also reduce the costs of transportation. To find bottlers in South Africa, browse our Yellow Pages Listings.
