Botanical gardens

A botanical garden is a garden with many different kinds of plants and flowers. A botanical garden has plants from a number of different parts of the world. It is a diversified garden. Their main role is to maintain documented collections of living plants for the purposes of scientific research, conservation, display, and education.

Botanical gardens have plants of different heights, colours and textures to create interest and amusement. Tourists visit such places for the amusement that it carries. A garden may consists of both natural and constructed elements - natural elements being the weeds and constructed elements being the sculptures. The Johannesburg Botanical Gardens have seven distinct gardens. These are the Herb Garden, the Hedge Garden, the Succulent Garden, the Shakespeare Garden, the Rose Garden, the Chapel Garden and the Arboretum. There are other elements that are featured by the botanical gardens such as leisure and lifestyle (Shisa nyama) as well as entertainment and events (water games).
