Blacksmiths

Blacksmiths make furniture, sculptures and tools using steel or wrought iron by forging them with the aid of benders and hammers. Blacksmiths are known for their vast understanding of metals and how to repair them. Originally, blacksmiths used a heating place to heat the iron or steel and this heating place was called a forge. It would heat the iron or steel to the correct temperature where it could then be formed into the required shape using a hammer. This forge could not be moved hence the blacksmith could only do all this in his workshop. Now with the advancement of technology the forge is now portable and is called a forge master.

The forge master does all the functions that the old version performed except that it can now be moved and the forging does not only occur in the workshop but even at the point of repair. Cathode copper is the copper made from the electro refining process that is used to get pure copper as copper is not found in its pure form. The copper ore is put in a solution of sulphuric acid and copper sulphate after being heated.

Electricity is sent through the solution and the other metals collect on the anode whilst the copper collects on the cathode. The copper that is collected is 99% pure and is used to make copper wires as it is a very good conductor of electricity.
