Built in 1764, Martin Melck House is one of the oldest of Cape Towns historic houses Located on Strand Street in the centre of the Mother City the premises was owned by a Prussian mercenary who employed the renowned French architect Louis Thibault to build a Lutheran Church in the city The façade and interior of the building was constructed by German woodcarver Anton Anreith The building is at present being used as a venue hosting a variety of temporary exhibitions Conveniently positioned in the City centre, Martin Melck House has hosted numerous events in its magnificent covered courtyard and restaurant
