David Miller Sales was established in Cape Town by David Miller in 1975, as a trade supplier of locks and locksmiths supplies. In order to satisfy a demand from commerce, industry and the public, installation of locks, electric locks and locking systems was begun in 1980 under the name David Miller Security. In 1989, the close corporation was formed, and the name The Lockshop was registered for the over-the-counter sales operation, which supplies the building, joinery, hardware, locksmith, security, shop fitting and other trades, as well as architects, industry and the public, with a vast range of locks and other ironmongery relating to doors. David Miller Security continued to carry out a limited number of installations of better quality locks, Door Closers, Panic & Emergency Exits.
