The Underberg House was originally a farmhouse built in 1860, when the lower mountain slopes still supported Wild Game, Leopard and Lynx. Some of the more popular visitors to the area included Lord Baden Powell and Rudyard Kipling who often used to take walks here. More recently the guest house has been used as the production centre for the feature film "That English Woman". The Underberg House in known for its comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. You can sit and relax on one of two verandas or sitting areas, escaping the hustle and bustle of the real world by engrossing yourself in one of the books from the library, looking up every now and again to take in the picturesque Table Mountain view.
