The dream of the Red Chamber is one of the greatest novels in Chinese literature and we are proud to invite you to join us and enjoy the great art of Chinese culinary creations. Red Chamber was originally opened in Rosebank in 1989 but moved to Middle Mall (Cinema level) next to Standard Bank in Hyde Park Corner shopping centre in 1997. Head Chef, Emma Chan, believes that the reason for the restaurant's success is due to the belief that real food outlasts trendy food. The interior at Red Chamber is modern Chinese and it's no surprise that red features as the dominant colour. Large bamboo sticks across green walls create the illusion of a bamboo forest and red draped curtains and traditional Chinese dividers add warmth and intimacy throughout the restaurant.
