Gary Rom started his hairdressing journey when he was employed as a sales consultant for LOreal in 1984. Once he had established his career with LOreal by winning salesman of the year in 1985, he then travelled to Las Vegas where he attended the world hairdressing championships. On the way back home, Gary decided to venture into the world of hair, and 2 months later attended training at various establishments in London and Paris. After working with his step father Kelly, from Hair By Kelly for a few years, Gary opened his first salon in 1998. The salon was called Inter Hair Design, and this salon won numerous Redken awards for retailing and salon excellence. In 1999, Gary decided to become the first salon in the world to try and achieve an ISO 9000 listing. This was achieved in 2000, and so process driven solutions to the hair industry were systemised and developed along with the auditors of ISO 9000.
