A Veterinary Specialist is a Veterinarian who has completed a Masters Degree in a specific field. This includes hands on clinical experience in the field of their chosen speciality (known as a residency), the completion of a research project which results in the publication of a dissertation and research article(s) in a scientific journal, and passing various Specialist Board examinations. The length of time that it takes to attain a specialist degree various from individual to individual but typically takes 3-4 years. The Veterinarian is then awarded a MMedVet Degree.
