Elim Night Shelter is a Christian based organisation catering for the homeless and destitute and was officially opened on the 2nd of September 1997. Elims mission is to not only house but also care for the bodies, minds and spirits of its clients. The name Elim is derived from a passage in the Bible related to an oasis in the wilderness called Elim. That is what the shelter has been striving to offer for the past 17 years. Although registered with the provincial Department of Social Development as a transient shelter, which in effect speaks of temporary housing of the homeless, experience has taught us that when one opens ones doors to the destitute, you are responsible for making a lasting contribution to the life of that individual and as such Elim has become much more than merely a transient shelter. We hope to have a positive impact and lasting impact on the lives of those individuals entrusted to us at Elim Night Shelter.
