An architect is a professional who provides architectural services, plans and designs projects as well as supervises construction of buildings and other large structures. An architect provides services to households, communities, societies, municipalities and towns.
Architect services include landscaping, conservation, architecture, acoustic and urban designing, space planning, building planning, project management, interior designing on artworks and finishes, as well as consultancy. Projects that an architect can offer include health care structures such as clinics and hospitals, residential buildings, transport structures such as roads and bridges, sport and leisure facilities such as stadiums, commercial and industrial facilities such as shopping malls, factory buildings and warehouses.
An architect also advises clients on how to apply for project planning permission and providing important information for making an application to the local authority. An architect also works on behalf of the client to ensure building contractors deliver in according to the design and plan specifications. Projects may also require specialist consultants such as structural engineers and quantity surveyors. In addition an architect may take on an additional, specialised role that requires specific expertise such as conducting a survey of an existing building and preparing a report as well as advising on the condition.
